I believe in the power of the Noosphere (Collective Human Consciousness) and in people’s ability, by the will of God, to transform the world by healing themselves, guided by consciousness, the mind, thoughts, and interpersonal relationships.

The term Noosphere derives from the Greek νοῦς (mind) and σφαῖρα (sphere), and is related to the terms geosphere (inanimate matter) and biosphere (biological life).

God created such a poweful energy that led to increasing “complexification” – from matter, to initial life forms, to Human Consciousness, and ultimately to a Collective Human Consciousness (the Noosphere). The Noosphere emerges through and is constituted by the interaction of human minds. It is continually growing toward greater integration and unification, culminating in the Omega Point, or the Cosmic Christ.

Although early Christians did not use the term Noosphere, nor were they aware of modern evolutionary science, they were certainly aware of the profound interconnection of all humanity and the ultimate movement toward Christ, or the Omega Point, centered on mutual love. From its beginning, Christianity has held a belief in the mystical bond that unites all of humanity, both living and dead. Over time, this bond has been referred to as the “Communion of Saints” or the “Body of Christ.”

As St. Paul said: “For building up the body of Christ, until we all attain the unity of faith and knowledge of the Son of God, to mature to adulthood, to the extent of the full stature of Christ … Living the truth in love, we should grow in every way into Him who is the head, Christ, from whom the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, with the proper functioning of each part, brings about the body’s growth and builds itself up in love”.

Consciousness, in general, is the possession of oneself within oneself – the immanence of all that a person is within all that he is. It is a perfect identity of being with oneself, a mode of existence whereby a person exists in himself and for himself, such that not existing for oneself is equivalent to not existing at all.

In a word, it is a way of existing fully.

Consciousness is not brain activity, reason, knowledge, or intellect. It does not depend on life. It is not merely subjective experience, nor is it something we can possess. Consciousness is not a thing.

It is pure existence itself, without content. It is emptiness – but an emptiness exists. Consciousness neither needs nor has attributes. It is even free from  time and space.

As there is only One Being that exists fully, there is only one Who is fully Conscious. Since He is Being without limit, He knows – simply by knowing Himself – all other beings in their entirety. At this highest level, consciousness implies, by identity alone, the supremely objective and eminent knowledge of everything. Therefore, the identity of a being with Himself by no means prevents Him from expressing within Himself all that exists as distinct from Himself.

The Supreme Consciousness of God is perfected harmony of energy, flowing and creating by shaping Patterns of Energy through Thought. This gives rise to the unconditional love and the incomparable goodness of God’s character.

The Supreme Consciousness of God can be understood only through enlightenment – through a profound awakening led by God. It is infinite and without boundaries.

Man, however, does not exist fully, either on the level of the act of existence or on that of form. The individual exists only by receiving existence from God. Moreover, the human individual is not humanity. Or rather, to express the paradox in a single phrase: the individual is not the human universe. He is part of a whole that gives him his place in the world and provides him with his energies, his matter, his experiences, and his very life. Without all this, he would be nothing; and yet, he is not identical with it. The universe is outside him, and the infinite Being is immeasurably above him. Nevertheless, man is what he is only through unceasing dependence on these two realities that are not himself. Cut off from them, he would cease to be anything at all.

The same paradox appears in human consciousness. To be aware of himself, man must also, in some way, be aware of God, without whom he would not be himself. In its very inwardness, his consciousness arises from the supreme consciousness of God, from whom it proceeds, and from the external universe in which it lives.

Man is too limited to suffice for himself. At every moment, his being is composed of forces and elements derived from the universe, and his existence depends entirely on the pure Act of Being. Thus, his being belongs to God before it becomes his own. The same is true of his consciousness: in order to be his and to express him, it must at every moment reflect the light of God, through whom he is what he is. Indeed, since he exists through God, his consciousness expresses God before it expresses himself.

Therefore, to believe with a faith that is both thoughtful and wholehearted – with the full consent of the heart joined to the clarity of the mind – is the primary condition for being conformed to Christ. Such faith leads us to forget ourselves and to dedicate ourselves to God and to others in charity. It is a faith animated by attentive love, united with the Lord – a faith that rejoices in thinking in Him. When we possess such faith, we begin to judge as He judges, to evaluate as He evaluates, and to speak as He speaks. Above all, we repeat what He has said and continues to say through Scripture and the Church, like the Blessed Virgin Mary, who “kept all these things, pondering them in her heart” (Luke 2:19).

Thus, we bring ourselves and our thoughts into conformity with the mind and consciousness of the Lord Jesus Christ. Or rather, it is He who draws us to Himself. He is the one who unites us. He is the life that sustains those who live in Him:
“The peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
